Knee High

Member Duties

Fees

Currently, membership dues are set at $175.00 per month per child. This amount is collected for a full 12 months of the year. New members are also asked to provide a deposit of $175.00, which is refundable or applyable to the last month's dues when you leave Knee High in good standing.

Shift Duties

Each family is required to work 10 hours per week providing day care. This is most often divided into two five hour (half day) shifts, though the commitment can be broken up into shorter shifts, according to parents' schedules. Parents are absolutely required to cover their shifts. Arrangements can be made informally among parents to trade shifts when necessary, but parent shifts must always be covered.

What you need to provide for your child

  • All of your child's food and beverages other than water.
  • Diapers and extra clothes for your child. Cloth or disposable diapers can be used.
  • Bedding for naps.

What Knee High provides for your child

  • Dishes and utensils for serving food.
  • A microwave oven for heating food (if you provide instructions to do so).
  • Mats or cots for napping.
  • Towels for hand washing.
  • Wipes for diaper changes.

Meetings

Parent meetings are held once a month, on a weekday evening or on weekends and usually last two to three hours. Each family is required to be represented at the meeting, preferably by the parent working shifts (if only one parent works shifts). Child care is provided during the meetings so that both parents can attend. We make all major decisions at meetings, as well as discussing each child in turn.

Extra-Duty Assignments

All families are required to take on an extra-duty assignment, and these assignments are periodically rotated among the membership. Examples of the assignments are member coordinator, scheduler, work study coordinator, coordinator of inside maintenance, supplier, treasurer.

In addition, committees are occasionally formed, and work days, in which we tackle larger tasks (e.g., window-washing, yard cleaning, etc.), are periodically organized.
