Preparing for Oral Exam

The Oral Exam for K301 will be conducted in a format in which you and I are engaged in free spontaneous conversation.

You will be scored on five criteria:

(i)Comprehension (ii) Fluency (iii) Accuracy

(iv) Spontaneity (v) Uses of grammar.

Comprehension has to do with how well you understand what is� going on in the conversation. Fluency has to do with how smoothly you produce your utterance, not the speed of it. Accuracy has to do with how you command your grammar, vocabulary and expressions accurately.  As for the criterion (iv), spontaneity, you will score better if you spontaneously initiate conversation rather than passively responding to the questions given to you. As for the criterion (v), uses of grammar, we will be looking at how well you utilize the grammar and expressions you have learned in this class, and how creatively use them.

IMPORTANT: YOU NEED TO INITATE CONVERSATION AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. DO NOT BE PASSIVE, JUST RESPONDING TO THE INTERVIEWER'S� QUESTION. BE SPONTANEOUS. THE BEST WAY TO DO THAT IS TO MAKE SURE YOU ASK BACK THE INTERVIEWER THE SAME QUESTION YOU HAVE JUST BEEN ASKED.

The best way to prepare for the oral exam is for you to get familiar with the conversations in the textbook.

Almost all questions are intended for you to answer using one of the patterns covered in the semester.

K301 Covers Lesson 6 and 7 of Integrated Korean: Intermediate 1 and Lesson 8 through 10 of Integrated Korean: Intermediate 2.

7 Talking about grocery shopping, clothing fashion, and household items.

3.10: Ask about hobbies and pastimess, how you deal with stress
