Yonsei University at
Wonju
Yonsei University at Wonju is located
in the city of Wonju, an hour and a half drive away from Seoul, the capital of
Korea. Yonsei University at Wonju has inherited the history and spirit of Yonsei
University founded in 1885. Yonsei
University seeks to cultivate leaders who follow the Christian principles of
truth and freedom.

Global Village
Program
The Global Village (GV) Program is an
expansion of the student exchange program in which international exchange
students will take part in the cultural internship program, living with a small
group of Korean students in a more amicable environment while taking courses of
their choice. International students will have an opportunity to interact with
other international students who are from other areas of the world.
All the activities in the GV Program
are conducted in English. International students will come to understand Korean
lifestyle and its culture as well as make friends with Korean students. At the
same time Korean students will also be able to experience Western culture as
they interact closely with the exchange students.

Requirement for
Admission
Admission to the Global Village
Program is open to all the students who are interested in knowing about Korea
and its culture and willing to share their life stories with their Korean
peers. Priority is given to those
who have successfully completed at least two semesters (or the equivalent) of
university level work at an accredited institution outside of Korea. The
candidate must have a sufficient command of the English language. Admission
will be based on a review of the application forms, including two
recommendation letters, one from the academic
advisor and the other from the director of either study abroad program or
international programs.

Leisure Activities
Located in the vicinity of the
beautiful Chiak Mountain and numerous beaches on the East Sea coast, Wonju is
one of the most famous tourist attractions in Korea. It is also a preferred
place for such leisure sports as skiing, rafting, MTB, scuba diving, and many
more. International students will enjoy their free time experiencing the Korean
culture and nature in these natural surroundings.

Financial Aid
The financial assistance of 3,000,000
Korean Won (approximately US$3,000) will be provided to the international
students participating in the GV program for their travel and living expenses.
In addition, tuition and dormitory fees are waived for them. From our
experiences, this comprehensive assistance is enough to cover travel and living
expenses in most cases.

Courses on Korean
Language and Culture
Many GV courses on Korean language
and culture are designed to help international students who learn about Korea
in various levels, from a complete novice to a highly sophisticated expert. The
Korean language courses, for example, focus on conversations in Korean along
with easy-to-follow explanations of Korean grammar. Some other courses on
Korean culture involve visitations to local cultural heritage sites. Foreign
students will also be encouraged to take the universityÕs regular courses. Refer to the course descriptions provided
in a separate brochure.
