Mission
The center's mission is to help all children in Howard County be successful when they enter kindergarten. We do this by providing information and ideas for you to try with your child, sponsoring monthly events and providing "take home totes" filled with books, games, puzzles and other educational toys. We also work with other organizations in the community who provide services for families with young children.
We are located at 2725 S Lafountain St, at the corner of Lincoln and Lafountain and funded by a Lilly grant through the Howard County Commmunity Foundation.
Our Free Programs for residents of Howard County
"Totes for Tots" are canvas bags full of items selected specifically for your child. The tote can be picked up at our center, delivered to your home, place of work, or where your child is during the day. The tote is loaned to you for one month. When you return it, you will receive another tote filled with new educational materials. The items in the tote will help your child learn important concepts like sounds, colors, numbers, eye-hand coordination, problem solving, sharing, and other valuable lessons to provide foundation for success in school.
Activity Day
Activity Days will be held on the second Thursday of each month from 9:00am to 5:50 pm. Our activity room is open Monday- Friday from 9:00 am to 4:45 pm. The Activity Room provides both parent and child a chance to explore materials and toys, and have an opportunity to socialize with other children of similar age.
Bi-Weekly Newsletters
Our newsletter is mailed every two weeks and includes activity ideas, information about child development, community events, and other resources to assist you as your child's first teacher.
