Each student is required to complete the following four projects. It is important to note that the weekly lectures and reading assignments are done to support the completion of assignments listed below. Click on the assignment name for detailed information about that assignment.

1. Posting to Oncourse (20% of grade)
You will post your reactions to discussion topics, questions and activities to Oncourse weekly.

2. Reading Specialist Assignment (20% of grade)
For this assignment (which covers topics in weeks 2 through 4) you will pretend that you are the reading specialists at the school where you work. As the reading specialist you have asked the teachers at your school to feel free to send you e-mails with their questions about reading any time.

One week before this assignment is due you will receive (in a Word Document attached to an Oncourse e-mail) ten e-mails from various teachers at your school. You will be asked to choose 6 of them and write e-mail responses to their senders. You will submit one product.

3. Critiquing a Lesson Plan (30% of grade)
You will critique a lesson plan's effectiveness to convey information and support students' efforts to read and comprehend. The lesson plan, as well as guidelines for critiquing the lesson plan will be posted on the web one week before it is due. You will receive an Oncourse e-mail one week before the Critique is due letting you know when this information is available on-line.

4. Research Paper (30% of grade)
You will research an issue that is of interest to you and that is related to secondary school literacy.
