I would like to thank Dr. Anabel Newman, the woman
who developed X425/L525 and my mentor and friend throughout
graduate school. Dr. Newman, a recognized expert in the
field of adult literacy, has been a constant source of
inspiration and friendship through the years. She taught me
the valuable lesson that we must patiently look for the
positives in situations and in people if we want to create
what is good and beautiful in life. Thank you, Dr. Newman,
for your professionalism and dedication to making the world
a better place. I would also like to thank Carla Verbeke, a
wonderful graduate student and ESL teacher who has done much
in developing the ESL course packet. Carla has worked
tirelessly to collect relevant readings representing a
balance of theory and practical application. She has been a
sounding board and resource person throughout the
development of the course. Thanks, Carla, for a job well
done.
