Language Education L530:
The Online Classroom

Eileen Giuffré Cotton, Ph.D.

3 credit hours

This course provides an introduction to the Internet and how it can be used as an important resource in K-12 and postsecondary classrooms. Students will create an integrated unit of instruction that uses the resources found on the Internet in combination with traditional information resources used at schools and other places of learning. Issues such as Acceptable Use Policies, web site evaluation and censorship will be discussed. The course considers curricular and pedagogical issues important to selecting, gathering and developing curriculum which integrates the use of the Internet into effective instructional practices. It is expected that students will have a very basic knowledge of e-mail and a web browser in order to get started with the class.
