Background

Shelley L. Nelson is a doctoral student in sociology at Indiana University. Her current work examines how social and cultural capital influence college plans and access to higher education among potential first-generation college students in the U.S. In 2008, Shelley was the recipient of the Indiana University Lieber Associate Instructor Award for excellence in teaching. In addition to teaching the LAMP L316 junior seminar on Analytical Problem Solving, Shelley has taught S100: Introduction to Sociology and will be teaching a graduate-level course (Stat S503) for the Department of Statistics during Spring 2010.
