Hilltop has partnered with the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation to offer the summer youth garden program. Thank you to all of the children who participated in the 2012 youth garden program.

Registration for the 2013 Summer Youth Gardening Program at Hilltop is now available!  Registration for the program will be taken through the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation.

Take a trip back to the traditional Hilltop Gardens summer gardening program. This eight-week garden program gives kids an opportunity to develop a plan, plant a variety of seeds, nurture and watch produce grow, and most importantly, reap the benefits of the harvest. The program meets two mornings a week, and provides a safe, fun, educational environment to learn about gardening. Youth gardening grows more than plants; children become enthusiastic about eating fruits and vegetables, respectful of their environment, and actively involved in making positive contributions to their community.

Dates: 6/10-7/31

Since its inception in 1948, thousands of Bloomington children have learned the benefits of gardening and have a new appreciation for nature that stays with them throughout their lives.  Hilltop still receives emails and visits from past Hilltoppers, saying how much the youth garden program still influences their lives. “I continue to be a passionate perennial gardener and I know that interest/passion is partially a credit to the folks at Hilltop.  I just wanted you to know what a difference you can and do make.  Thank you for the work you do.” –Hilltopper, ‘74-’76.
