Information about the donor plaque

The tree identification and donor's plaque will be produced of heavy duty laminated plastic with a brushed aluminum veneer. The 4" x 6" plaque will be engraved with black lettering. Information printed on the plaque will include the scientific name, common name, and origin of plant along with up to three lines of donor provided text. Each line will be limited to a maximum of 45 spaces. If an additional line is required, then letter size will be reduced.

The illustration below represents a sample of the plaque.

The following is a suggested list of trees available for named tree donations. The actual species will be selected by the University Landscape Architect.

Sugar Maple, Serviceberry, River Birch, Redbud, Dogwood, Hawthorn, Gingko, Spruce, Red Oak, White Oak, Bur Oak, Bald Cypress and Hybrid Elm.

Please keep in mind that not every tree on the list works in every location on campus. If you feel strongly about the location of your named donated tree, then greater flexibility about the type of tree is required. Folks concerned with having a specific tree will also need flexibility with regard to location.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call Debbie Freeman in the Capital Projects Business Office (812) 855-4271.
