Kathy Ladell

Graduate Student, School of Library and Information Science
& Latin American and Caribbean Studies

Kathy Ladell

"As an undergraduate I was a Spanish major and was interested in social issues of the Latino population. After working in the non-profit world for several years, I decided to change my career. Library science in conjunction with Latin American Studies was a good fit for my new career pursuit. I especially wanted to continue to gain knowledge about issues affect Latinos which is why I have taken most of my classes in Latino Studies. The faculty in Latino Studies has always been supportive in helping me in my career path. The classes have kept me current on issues such as immigration and education.

With this background, I was able to get an archival internship at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona working on local history of the Mexican-American population. I hope to continue my research and work in archives where I will be using archival material relating to the Mexican-American experience in the United States."
