A110 TecTrac students hard at work |
LEGOBots at IUB is the portal to all things LEGO® here at Indiana University, Bloomington. In particular, this site deals extensively with research projects related to the LEGO Mindstorms Robotics Invention System .
(Quick Note: The is a warning that the link you are about to click will take you away from the LEGOBots site.)
A Brief Photo-history
There is a rapidly evolving history to all things LEGO here at IU; check it out if you're looking for an overview of what we've done so far.
What's on LEGOBots?
Lots of cool things are currently going on with LEGO. For example:
- A110 TecTrac
The A110 Tec Trac is one of our favorite places to play with LEGO. Designed as a curricular addition to CSCI A110: Introduction to Computing, this team-based, problem-solving approach to learning gives students in a large (2000 per anum) intro course a chance to build and program robots!
- A290: Introduction to LEGO Robotics
CSCI A290: Introduction to LEGO Robotics is being run for the first time this semester. Enrolling 32 students, this is an exciting (and crowded) class. Because we get 2 credit hours of these students' time, we can make them work harder (like they mind), as we explore more programming environments for the brick and the philosophy of computing.
- LEGOScheme
A new version is coming for LEGOScheme. Our first prototype, written by a number of very cool undergrads here at IU, is being superceeded by a full Scheme compiler written by a couple of very cool grads.
- Papers and Presentations
It is nearly impossible to find time to write on the subject, but write we must. Here are a collection of documents (including the poster Matt took to Mindfest at MIT) that have grown out of this work. Papers in progress will find their way here as well, we hope.
