Project: X-ray and neutron scattering studies of structure of Soft Condensed Matter/Nano-confined Material/methane clathrate
Narayan Das is working on the structure and dynamics of material confined in mesoporous glass. In addition, he is investigating the size and structure of methane (CH4) clathrate and phase behavior CH4-H2O system.
More specifically he worked on:
- The altered structure, mobility and density of glycerol confinement in Vycor. This has involved experiments at the LENS at IUCF
- Structure, size and size distribution of nanomaterials, bio- and mesoporous materials SANS and in-house Rigaku small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS)
- Structure and dynamic of 3He-4He in mesoporus silica (MCM41, MCM48) using neutron scattering
- Using an in-house X-ray diffractometer he observed what is size and structure of CH4 in H2O when it condensed into ice at high pressure. Construct the phase diagram for the CH4-H2O system and experimental conditions.
