Like last year we awarded two Faculty
Service Awards again. This years’ recipients were
Eduardo Brondizio for his support of Latinos through mentoring
and scholarship and in particular for his Mathers Museum exhibit
entitled, “An Ethnographic and Photographic Guide to Caboclos of
the Amazon Estuary” and Alberto Torchinsky
for his tireless betterment of Latinos through his many continuous
administrative efforts over the past 25 years.
This years’ recipient of the Staff Service Award
was Rosa Ayers for her many outreach initiatives
to improve the Latino experience in Bloomington and in the state,
and in particular for her work with Mujeres en Conexión.
The recipient of the Student Service Award was
Manuel Martínez who is a Sophomore and
is nominated for his many volunteering activities in Groups, La
Casa, the New Beings student organization and was also selected
to participate in the MEDIC-B summer research program, and gained
admission into the Hudson-Holland Scholars program all during his
Freshman year.
Let us recognize not only the award recipients but also all the
nominees and the many others who work daily to improve the Latino
Academic community at IUB.
