Effective October 8, Jill Terhune-Andrews accepted the position of Administrative Secretary, Library Administration, Bloomington. Prior to accepting this position, Jill worked as Assistant Program Coordinator at Twenty-First Century Scholars/Enrollment Data and Communications Center, Indiana University.

LIBRARY NEWS


*Patriot Act Forum, IU South Bend

Just a reminder to join the Franklin D. Schurz Library and the Academic Senate Library Affairs Committee of Indiana University South Bend next Friday for an all day forum "The Patriot Act and the Challenge to Academic Freedom." Our forum will address issues surrounding the USA Patriot Act and the academic community.

Beginning at 9:30 AM in IU South Bend's Wiekamp Hall auditorium, Doug Archer, Reference and Peace Studies Librarian at the University of Notre Dame, will deliver our keynote address.Panels discussing the Patriot Actís impact on access and research will follow. Panel members include Lou Malcomb and Rosanne Cordell from IU Libraries, Mark Bruhn from UITS, and other faculty members from IU South Bend and the University of Notre Dame. At 4 p.m., Nancy Kranich, Senior Fellow at the Free Expression Policy Project and former President of the American Library Association, and Clifford Ong, Director of Indianaís Counter-Terrorism and Security Council, will wrap up the forum by sharing their different perspectives on the Patriot Act.

The forum will be held at Wiekamp Hall, IU South Bend beginning at 9:30 a.m. and ending with a reception at the Franklin D. Schurz Library at 5:30 p.m. You are welcome to come to the entire forum or for the sessions that interest you. Registration is not required, except for lunch. If you wish to have lunch at the forum, you will need to register by noon Monday, September 29.

*Call for Donations to the 17th Annual HPER Library Auction

The 17th Annual HPER Library Auction is just around the corner! Please plan to join us in the festivities.

We are asking for your donations of items to auction. Use your imagination with a creative gift such as a gourmet meal, a photograph, flower bulbs, or an airplane ride, or let us help you get rid of items that you no longer need or use, such as sporting equipment, deck chairs, or luggage. Funds raised from the Auction are used to purchase computers, books, videos, and other equipment for the HPER Library.
