*Staff Updates, IUBEffective January 7, Angie Brunk accepted the position of Microfilming Project Assistant, Preservation Department, Bloomington. Prior to accepting this position, Angie worked in Undergraduate Library Services as an Instruction Assistant. She has an MLS from Indiana University.
Effective January 7, Katherine Quarles accepted the position of Acquisitions Coordinator, Technical Services/Acquisitions Division, Bloomington. Prior to accepting this position Katherine worked in the HPER Library as an intern and the Undergraduate Library as a Reference Assistant. She has an MLS from Indiana University.
Effective January 7, Rhonda Stiles accepted the position of Auxiliary Library Facility Project Cataloging Support Specialist, Technical Services/Cataloging Division, Bloomington. Prior to accepting this position, Rhonda was the Purchasing Accounts Control Coordinator in Technical Services/Acquisitions Division.
Effective January 2, Amy Thomas accepted the position of Office Services Assistant, Budget/Supply Office, Bloomington. Prior to accepting this position, Amy worked at HSS Rental USA, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Seeking individual who has strong interpersonal and communication skills, initiative, good judgment, ability to work independently, and is user oriented. Required: MLS (ALA accredited). Preferred. Law library reference experience, supervisory experience, teaching experience. Duties: Day-to-day management of circulation and ILL; reference; legal research instruction; participation in campus, university, and professional activities. *LIT Staff Technology Checkout
Library Information Technology has a new service: equipment for short term use. Users may receive the gear by coming to LIT for inventory, turnover, and introduction to operations as needed on a first come, first served basis. Lisa Figg is point of contact in LIT for checkouts and may be contacted via email lfigg@indiana.edu to confirm availability of particular equipment.
Available equipment:
- Sony Mavica digital camera with flash that uses regular 3-1/2" floppy disks or a Sony Memory stick. Good for general documentation for print or web pages; Yields still photos or a few seconds of motion pictures. Available on a one day loan to any staff person for library related use. Training in basic operation available, and transfer by floppy disk requires no special software or hardware (disks not included but batteries are!).
- The following laptops are available for travel to conferences or use locally, with period of loan dependent on the particular need & how many are waiting in line to use them:
- Two Dell Windows laptops with 14" screen; Good for most general uses including training, meetings, travel; Installed with MS Office 2000, Adobe Reader, Winzip, IU communications suite, & desktop links to VPN and CFS. Internal CD-ROM, floppy drive, monitor/projector port, parallel port, serial port; Available assessories include AC power adaptor, modem, and wireless network card.
- Two Sony Windows laptops with 8x10" screens; Lightweight for travelers & good for ALF prep, multimedia, meetings; Installed with current SIRSI Workflows, MS Office 2002, Adobe Reader, Winzip, IU Communications suite, SSH2 telnet/ftp, & desktop links to VPN and CFS. Internal Sony memory Stick slot, USB port, & firewire port (Note: NO other ports for printers or monitors....print via network or USB only); Available assessories include external CD-ROM, external floppy drive, AC power adaptor, modem, and wireless network card.
