Effective January 2, Anthony Feschyn accepted the Document Delivery Services Retrieval Supervisor position in Customer and Access Services at IU-Bloomington. Prior to accepting this position, Anthony worked at J.C. Penny Company, Inc. He has a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Indiana University.
I am happy to announce that effective January 2, Jim Halliday accepted the position in UITS of Software Analyst/Programmer on the Digital Music Library project. Jim is currently a doctoral student in music theory at IU and has an M.M. in music theory from IU and a B.M. in piano performance from the University of Georgia. He has previously worked as a UITS consultant and as an instructor in the Music Theory department. Please join me in welcoming Jim to the Digital Library Program and the Digital Music Library project!

Reference & Information Services Librarian Positions
Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) Helmke Library seeks energetic and knowledgeable librarians to provide general reference and information services as well as bibliographic instruction, collection development, and specialized research support in the role of liaison to the university's academic departments (areas of responsibility open, assigned according to applicants' qualifications and library needs). Interviews will be conducted for two 12-month, tenure-track positions (one pending budgetary approval) to begin July 1, 2001.
Responsibilities: Successful candidates will contribute substantially to the library's ongoing efforts to develop integrated public services, collections, and instruction in the dynamic environment of desktop information delivery. In their areas of expertise, the librarian-liaisons are responsible for evaluating, selecting, and using printed and electronic resources, planning and updating the library's Web pages, and developing innovative services and user aids. Candidates who initiate partnerships within and outside the library will find significant opportunities for professional growth and collaboration.
Qualifications: M.L.S. from an A.L.A.-accredited library school required, with experience in an academic or research setting preferred. Must demonstrate excellent written and interpersonal communication skills; ability to work well independently and as a team member; ready knowledge of a wide variety of general reference resources; strong commitment to accurate, responsive reference service; desire for continuous learning and self-improvement. Must be able to meet the responsibilities of a tenure-track appointment by demonstrating focus, initiative, innovation, and impact in job performance as well as professional development and service. Entry-level candidates should highlight these potentials in their letter of application.
Salary and benefits: Minimum $34,000 at the Assistant Librarian rank; salary and rank dependent upon qualifications and experience. Full benefits package including 22 vacation days, TIAA-CREF.

The Walter E. Helmke Library is part of the eight-campus Indiana University Libraries system, offering collections exceeding 300,000 book and serial volumes, with more than 200,000 government documents. Librarians are available seven days a week on an appointment basis to teach information literacy skills and provide individual research assistance. Users of the library include IPFW students, faculty, and staff, and residents of northeast Indiana. *IUPUI Rufus Reiberg Reading Series Announced
The IUPUI School of Liberal Arts Department of English Creative Writing Program and the IUPUI University Library are collaborating to present the Rufus Reiberg Reading Series of visiting writers for Spring 2001. Featured national authors will include Richard Jones (Thursday, January 25, 7:00 p.m.), Reginald Shepherd (Thursday, February 22, 4:00 p.m.), Patricia Goedicke (Wednesday, March 7, 4:00 p.m. & Thursday, March 8, 7:00 p.m.), and Ronald Wallace (Thursday, April 5, 4:00 p.m.).
The Rufus Reiberg Reading Series was established in 1997 with an endowment in honor of Dr. Reiberg, the late chair of the Liberal Arts Department of English. The intention for the series is to present nationally recognized writers on the IUPUI campus, for the benefit of students and the community. Through partnership with the IUPUI University Library, funding for the series has been expanded, with support from the Indianapolis Foundation Library Fund, Associated Writing Programs, and the Copper Canyon Press, with funding from the Lila Wallace Reader's Digest Fund through the American Library Association's LIVE! At The Library 2000 program.
The works of poet Richard Jones were most recently published in a collection entitled, The Blessing: New and Selected Poems. An earlier collection of poetry was entitled, 48 Questions. Jones serves as editor of Poetry East, and teaches at DePaul University, Chicago.
Award winning poet Reginald Shepherd was the recipient of the 1993 Associated Writing Programs' Award for Poetry, for his first book, Some Are Drowning. He has also received a "Discovery"/ The Nation award, a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship, and an Illinois Arts Council poetry fellowship. Recently, Shepherd's book, Wrong, was a selection of the Poetry Club of the Academy of American Poets, and he teaches at Cornell University.
Patricia Goedicke's readings will be part of the IUPUI Women's Studies, International Women's Day celebration. She has had twelve volumes of poetry published, including As Earth Begins to End and The Tongues We Speak: New and Selected Poems, which was named one of best books of the year by The New York Times. Goedicke teaches creative writing at the University of Montana.
Author Ronald Wallace has produced books of poetry, fiction and criticism, with the most recent being a collection of stories, Quick Bright Things, and a volume of poems, The Uses of Adversity. He has been the recipient of four, Council for Wisconsin Writers Book Awards and a Lynde and Harry Bradley Major Lifetime Achievement Award. Wallace is also the Director of Creative Writing for the University of Wisconsin.
