*WebCat: Beyond the Basics -- Workshops for Public Services Staff

There are still some spaces left in the WebCat: Beyond the Basics Workshops. We have also added another workshop at Fort Wayne. The remaining workshops are:

Friday, January 19
Main Library - Bloomington (Room E172)
9:00 am - 11:00 am

Wednesday, January 24
University Library -- IUPUI (Room UL0106)
1:00 - 3:00 pm

Thursday, February 1
IPFW Library

1:00 - 3:00 pm

To ensure we have adequate space for everyone, please sign up for a preferred time. You may register by contacting Nonie Watt at wattn@indiana.edu indicating your preference. Additional workshops may be scheduled if demand warrants.

The sessions include an in-depth look at the features and functionality of the new OPAC. Before attending the workshop, it would be helpful for participants to have completed the WebCat online tutorial found at http://www.indiana.edu/~sirsi/webcat and to have at least some minimal experience using the WebCat. The objective of these workshops is to follow up on that basic instruction, with more attention paid to sophisticated search techniques as well as features of the system that may be less intuitive, all in a "live" environment rather than a test database. In addition, instructional handouts that could be adapted for local library usage are provided.

Coming later in January and in February will be follow-up sessions, entitled Introduction to WorkFlows, designed to train public services staff in locating information only available from the staff side of Unicorn. The schedule will be announced in next week.
