*Search and Screen Committee Appointed, IUBThe search and screen committee for Assistant to the Ruth Lilly University Dean of University Libraries has been appointed. The members are: Eric Bartheld, Office of External Relations and Development; Yolanda Cooper (ex officio), Libraries Human Resources; Betty Davis, Libraries Human Resources; Harold Shaffer, Library Administration; Susie Trisler (chair), Customer and Access Services Department.

Effective April 1 Michael Courtney accepted the position of ALF Project Cataloging Support Specialist in Technical Services at IU-Bloomington. Prior to accepting this position Michael worked at Dimenna-Nyselius Library at Fairfield University in Connecticut as Reserves Coordinator/Media Acquisitions Manager. He has a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia.

*IUB Library Staff Awards
It's time to think about awards! The Indiana University, Bloomington Libraries" annual staff awards recognize exceptional Biweekly Appointed staff, Professional Administrative staff, and Student Employees who work for the good of the Libraries and display a combination of competence, a positive attitude, and helpfulness that is notable among his/her peers.
Information and nomination forms can be found on the Libraries Human Resources Web page at http://www.indiana.edu/~libpers/staffawards.html. .
Nominations should be submitted to Libraries Human Resources by March 28, 2003.
We are also seeking volunteers to be on the Awards' Committees.
Biweekly Staff Award - five support staff: 2 from the Main Library, 2 from campus libraries, and one at large.
Professional Administrative Award - three professional staff: 1 from the main library, 1 from campus libraries, and one at large.
Student Award - three staff members: 1 support staff, 1 professional staff, and one librarian.
If you would like to volunteer for one of these committees or if you have any questions regarding the award process, please contact Barb McDonald e-mail (bjmcdona@indiana.edu) or by phone at 5-1635, in Libraries Human Resources as soon as possible.

*InULA Book Sale 2003 - Call for Volunteers, IUB
The annual InULA used book sale is to be held this year on April 6 and 7. This is the major fund-raising event for the Indiana University Librarians Association to provide scholarships and grants for research and professional development. It looks to be a fantastic sale this year, and we have lots of books to sell. We need YOUR help with setting up for the sale, selling books, and clean-up.
If you have an hour or two to volunteer, please contact Anne Bock (annbock@indiana.edu). Please include your name, hours you can work, email address, and phone number.
Volunteers may select several of the regularly priced books at no cost in return for their work. They also receive a nice letter of appreciation from the Co-Chairs of the book sale, always useful in a P & T dossier as evidence of service!
Volunteers are need for the following days and times:
Friday, April 4 -Setup
3:00 - 5:00
Move the chairs out of E174 and set up the tables. Saturday, April 5-- Setup
8:30 am to noon
Help bring boxes down from the fifth floor storage area,
remove the books from boxes, and arrange them by subject
on tables in room E174. Sunday, April 6--Sale
12:30 pm to 7:00 pm
Help with sales in a variety of ways: door security during
the preview sale, organization of books for major buyers,
tidying up throughout the day, and collecting money from buyers. Monday, April 7--Sale
8:30 am to 8:00 pm
Help with collecting money from buyers and tidying up
throughout the day. The most critical times are between
noon and 8:00 pm (during the half-price and bag sales). Tuesday, April 8-- Clean-up
8:00 am to 1:00 pm
Help with packing unsold books in boxes and taking them to

*Larue Carter Hospital Library in IUCAT
The Ruth Lilly Medical Library has a new sublocation, Larue Carter Hospital (LCH) Library. Records for books at LCH Library are now being entered in IUCAT. Larue Carter Hospital Library has unique research materials in mental health. Information for persons interested in using these resources on site:
Larue Carter Hospital is in Indianapolis at 2601 Cold Spring Road. The library is in the north end of the building on the 4th floor. The normal hours are 8:45-12:15, and 1:15-4:45. Anyone going to the LCH Library should call first to be sure they are open. The phone number is 941-4154. The librarian is Judy Smith.

*Digital Library Program Forum, IUB
On March 31, the Digital Library Program will be offering two 3-hour sessions providing an overview of DLP initiatives and recent accomplishments. We will also discuss how to work with the DLP to plan and manage a digital project. The target audience will be librarians and professional staff.
The Digital Library Program Forum will be held in Main Library E174 from 9:00-noon and again from 1:00-4:00. If you have not already notified Jenn Riley (jenlrile@indiana.edu) that you will be attending, please contact her soon, telling her which session you plan to attend. The program outline is below. As a result of these events, we will schedule follow-up workshops and more specialized learning opportunities for librarians and information technologists.

The Libraries Diversity Committee will host the following events in honor of National Library Week:
Many Faces, Many Voices @ Your Library - April 8, 2003
This event will take place on April 8, 2003. During the day there will be a photography exhibit in the Main Library lobby with photographs by Antonio Soto Carlo, student and Tyagnon Miller, Professor in the School of Journalism. At 6:30 p.m. we will have a fiction/poetry reading featuring:

Pot-Luck Luncheon April 9, 2003
The Diversity Committee cordially invites you to share in a library celebration by participating in a diversity potluck luncheon. All staff are asked to bring dishes that reflect their cultural or ethnic heritage, or any dish you would like to share. The luncheon is scheduled for April 9th, 2003 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Main Library staff lounge. Below you will find a sign-up sheet. Please let us know whether you will bring a main or side dish or a dessert. You can forward the sheet to Betty Davis in Libraries Human Resources at (betdavis@indiana.edu) or mail to Libraries Human Resources, room 201A Main Library.
