*IUB Library Staff AwardsIt's time to think about awards! The Indiana University, Bloomington Libraries" annual staff awards recognize exceptional Support Staff, Professional Administrative staff, and Student Employees who work for the good of the Libraries and display a combination of competence, a positive attitude, and helpfulness that is notable among his/her peers.

Nominations should be submitted to Libraries Human Resources by April 8, 2002.
We are also seeking volunteers to be on the Awards' Committees.
Support Staff Award - five support staff: 2 from the Main Library, 2 from campus libraries, and one at large.
Professional Administrative Award - three professional staff: 1 from the main library, 1 from campus libraries, and one at large.
Student Award - three staff members: 1 support staff, 1 professional staff, and one librarian.

*Assistant Director of Collection Development and Head of SALC, IUB
After a national search that attracted an outstanding pool of candidates, Cecile Jagodzinski has accepted the position of Assistant Director of Collection Development and Head of the Subject & Area Librarians Council, effective May l, 2002. Dr. Jagodzinskis professional experience encompasses a broad range of functions, from cataloging and technical services work to reference services, collection development and inter-institutional cooperation. Since 1988 she has served at Illinois State University in a variety of capacities, including Head of Cataloging & Records Maintenance, Interim Head of Acquisitions and Collection Management, and most recently as Coordinator of Collection Management. From 1995 to 1997 Cecile also served on a part-time basis as the Interim Coordinator of the Illinois Cooperative Collection Management Program. She continues to work on cooperative collection management programs throughout Illinois, including the purchase and licensing of databases, as the Chair of the Illinois Cooperative Collection Management Coordinating Committee.
Cecile earned her Ph.D. in English from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in May 1996. Since 1998, Cecile has taught courses in the English Department at Illinois State University, focusing on the history of literature by women. In 1999 the University Press of Virginia published, Privacy and Print: Reading and Writing in Seventeenth-Century England, based on her dissertation. Cecile has also contributed articles and chapters to numerous reference works including the entries on Beryl Bainbridge and Julia OFaolain in British Novelists since 1960 (Gale, 2001) and the chapter on Books and Book Reviews in the 7th through 10th editions of Bowkers Magazines for Libraries. She has served as an indexer for the Annual Bibliography of English Language and Literature since 1997 and for the MLA International Bibliography since 1991. Her colleagues, instructors, and mentors were effusive in their praise of the breadth and depth of her contributions.
With an MA in English from Northwestern University; an Advanced Certificate in Library Science from the University of Chicago and an MLS from SUNY-Buffalo, Cecile did her undergraduate work at Canisius College in Buffalo. Prior to her tenure at Illinois State University, Cecile held librarian appointments at the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library; Quincy College; the Center for Research Libraries; Northwestern University Law Library; and the American Medical Association in Chicago.
I would like to thank the Search & Screen Committee for their excellent work under the leadership of Carolyn Walters, Chair, with members: Richard Carr, BJ Irvine, Kay Martin, Gail McKenzie, Moira Smith, Gary Wiggins, and Yolanda Cooper-Birdine (ex-officio). *2002 ILF Annual Conference Store Volunteers Needed
If you are planning to attend the 2002 ILF Annual Conference consider volunteering an hour of your time to helping out in the Conference Store. The Conference Store features ILF materials, ALA items, bibliophile gift items, and collectibles. The Conference Store will be located in the Exhibits area close to the Silent Auction and the Conference Bookstore where books by the keynote speaker, special event, and coffee talk authors will be signed and sold. *Diversity Pot-Luck Luncheon Thank You Announcement, IUB

*Announcing the Winners of the Daniel T. Richards PrizeNancy Eckerman, Special Collections Librarian at the Ruth Lilly Medical Library (IUPUI), along with a colleague from Kentucky, has won the Daniel T. Richards Prize for a paper titled "Circulation of Core Collection Monographs in an Academic Medical Library." The paper was originally published in the Bulletin of the Medical Library Association 89(2):165-169, 2001 April. The Medical Library Association's (MLA) Collection Development Section annually awards the Daniel T. Richards Prize for writing related to collection development in the health sciences. A $250 cash award along with a certificate will be presented to the winners on May 21 at the 2002 MLA meeting in Dallas, Texas.

*Announcing InULA Book Sale, April 14-15, 2002Bibliophiles will want to mark their calendars for the Indiana University Librarians Association (InULA) annual Book Sale, on Sunday, April 14, and Monday, April 15, 2002 in the IUB Main Library, Room E174.
Admission is free to the Main Sale, 4-7 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday (closed 5:00-5:30 Monday). A $10.00 fee is required for admittance to the Preview Sale on Sunday, from 1-4:00 p.m. Selected items will be discounted during the Half Price Sale, beginning at noon on Monday.
InULA accepts book donations to the sale until Thursday, April 11. All kinds of books are welcome, as well as journals/magazines, posters, audio cassettes, videos, CDs, and cards. InULA will be glad to provide a letter of receipt to donors for tax purposes.
Donations to the InULA book sale may be dropped off at the Reference Department, IUB Main Library E159. Please mark the boxes "InULA Book Sale."
A non-profit organization, InULA supports professional development and continuing education for librarians and provides scholarships in the field of library and information science. Greetings, all! The Indiana chapter of ASIS&T Executive Board announces its Spring 2002 program:

Our featured speaker, Professor Katy Börner (Assistant Professor, School of Library & Information Science, Indiana University, Bloomington) will present
. . . . . . . "Visualizing Knowledge Domains" . . . . . . .
This lecture-demonstration will present state-of-the-art visualization techniques being developed by information scientists to map the knowledge domain structure of scientific disciplines. Various analysis and visualization techniques will be demonstrated using a data set of bibliographic records drawn from the literatures of citation analysis, bibliometrics, semantics, and visualization. Relationships within and between these four fields of research reveal the boundaries of the new specialization of domain visualization. Promising new avenues of research will be highlighted.
