*Steve Egyhazi and Anne Graham are the proud parents of a healthy baby boy. Sean Graham Egyhazi was born on March 19, 2000 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Baby, mother and father are all doing well! Anne is on staff in the Reference Department at IU Bloomington.

*Effective March 18, Tracey McGookey resigned from her position as Computer Assistant in Media & Reserve Services at IU Bloomington.

*Gary Wiggins, Chemistry Library, and Elizabeth Hanson, Life Sciences Library at IU Bloomington, served as resume reviewers for the students who participated in the March 21 "(Jump) Starting Your Information Career" program which was sponsored by the Indiana Chapter of the Special Library Association.

*2000 ILF Conference at IUPUI

IUPUI University Libraries had a strong presence at the 2000 ILF Conference. In addition to staff and librarians who attended the conference, the following individuals contributed to specific events.

*Search And Screen Committees Appointed at IU Bloomington

The search and screen committee for the position of Associate Dean and Director of Technical Services has been appointed. *Cook Music Library (IU Bloomington) News

The Cook Music Library was well represented at the Music Library Association 69th Annual Meeting in Louisville, Kentucky, February 23-26. In attendance were staff members John Anderies, Mary Wallace Davidson, Emma Dederick-Colon, Michael Fling, David Lasocki, Constance Mayer, Ralph Papakhian, Chuck Peters, and Sue Stancu, as well as music librarianship students Beth Flood, Peter Lisius, Alisa Rata, and Patty Von Stein.

Mary Wallace Davidson chaired the Walter Gerboth Award Committee and served on the Legislation Committee, which presented a plenary session on "Copyright in the Digital Age - Electronic Reserves, Distance Learning, and Fair Use"; Michael Fling and Constance Mayer presented the paper "Practical Preservation through VARIATIONS: Providing Online Access to Music Materials"; Mayer also chaired the Information Sharing Subcomittee of the Reference and Public Services Committee.

Preceding the MLA meeting, Emma Dederick-Colon, Ralph Papakhian, Chuck Peters, and Sue Stancu attended the Music OCLC Users Group (MOUG) Annual Meeting, February 22-23, also in Louisville. Emma Dederick-Colon presented "RILM Abstracts on FirstSearch," and Ralph Papakhian presided at the NACO-Music Project participant's meeting.

The Cook Music Library is also well-represented in the special millennium (March) issue of Notes: The Quarterly Journal of the Music Library Association. In this special issue, entitled "Music Librarianship at the Turn of the Century," Ralph Papakhian writes on "Cataloging," Mary Wallace Davidson on "Copyright," and David Lasocki on "Reference," comprising three of the thirteen articles.

The White Award Committee has selected two recipients for this year's award.

Taemin Park will attend the OCLC Institute, "Knowledge Access: Management Tools and Concepts for Next-Generation Catalogers,"

James Canary will attend a microscopy course in Chicago, IL as well as travel to the UK - British Library in his continuing study of Tibetan manuscripts.

*Walters Wins Tera Award

Carolyn Walters, IU Bloomington, has won this year's Teaching Excellence Recognition Award (TERA) for SLIS adjunct faculty. The award recognizes the years of teaching service Carolyn has provided to SLIS students. Both they and SLIS rely upon Carolyn for her continuous excellent contribution. The award includes a cash component of $500. Congratulations from all of your peers!

It's time to think about awards! The Indiana University, Bloomington Libraries' annual awards recognize an exceptional Support Staff, Professional Administrative, and Student Employee who works for the good of the Libraries and displays a combination of competence, a positive attitude, and helpfulness that is notable among his/her peers.
