2. Videoconference Report

Many thanks go to InULA for funding our proposal for telecast of the videoconference, "De-mystifying the Licensing of Electronic Resources." The videoconference was co-sponsored by ARL and the Special Libraries Association and funded in part by Lexis-Nexis. InULA's funding enabled us to televise the program at IUB in Radio/TV 108 on March 4, 1999, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. The funding also allowed us to videotape the conference for those who were unable to attend. The video has been cataloged (Z653.7 .D43 1999) and is available with handouts at the Media/Reserve Services in the IUB Main Library. It may be checked out for overnight or borrowed by librarians from other campuses for a longer period. (Consult Colleen Talty at 855-1650; ctalty@indiana.edu)

5. Diversity Day At IU Bloomington

Please mark your calendars for Libraries Diversity Day which will be celebrated on March 31st from 1:30 to 2:30 pm in the Media Showing Room. This year, in addition to asking for contributions of foods from different cultures to share among ourselves, we will also feature an informal program.

Julie Knost, IU's Director of Affirmative Action, will speak to us about the meaning of diversity and how we can be a part of the University's efforts in this regard. The Dean will also address the issue of diversity within the Libraries.

Everyone is strongly encouraged to attend and find out what diversity really is. Those attending will not be charged for time off since this is considered a training session.

Please contact Betty Andis or Suzann Easter by telephone or e-mail as to attendance and/or food that you plan to bring.

6. HPER Library Auction

You're Invited To The 13th Annual HPER Library Auction

The 13th annual HPER Library auction is scheduled for Thursday, April 1, 1999 from 11:30am - 1:00pm in Room 125 (HPER Faculty Lounge). Please make a note on your calendar and plan to join us in the festivities. Now would be a good time to check for items no longer needed or used. Let us help you find a new home for them. Donations in the past have ranged from home cooked gourmet meals to hand made bluebird houses to airplane rides to used barbecue grills. Use your imagination and donate to a worthy cause. Funds raised from past auctions have been used to purchase needed computers, books, and other equipment for the HPER Library.

Please plan to donate and attend this exciting event. There will be a special category of auction items for "students only" so encourage students to attend as well. Contact Erla Heyns HEYNSE at 5-4398 or Ada Pennington PENNINGT at 5-9314 to make donations or for information.

*Note: Lunch will be served by the HPER Staff Council. It will be Sloppy Joes, chips, and pickles and it will cost $2.00.
