STAFF NEWS

*Marianne Mason Leaving Law Library

I am sorry to announce that Marianne Mason has submitted her resignation from the Law Library to accept the position of Federal Documents Collection Librarian at the University of Iowa. Marianne has been the Documents Librarian since October, 1988. During her tenure at the Law Library, Marianne has been instrumental in directing many important projects, including the retrospective conversion of the Law Library's documents collection using Marcive. Marianne has also been active in local, state and national library organizations. We will certainly miss her expertise in documents and reference.

Marianne's last day at the Law Library will be April 13th.

*Group Fitness Classes Offered

Group fitness classes are offered over the lunch hour for all faculty and staff on weekdays in the HPER Building, Room 169. On Mondays and Wednesdays the focus is on stretching and strengthening, and the instructors pay particular attention to neck, shoulder, and upper back areas which are prone to stiffness from sitting at computer terminals for long periods of time. On Tuesdays and Thursdays the classes consist of exercises which work the cardiovascular system. Fridays offer more relaxed stretching routines and body awareness exercises. These classes and others are available with a Faculty/Staff Membership to the HPER facility, which is offered for a modest fee, based on an employee's salary. For example, the fee is only $30.00 per year for someone with a salary under $20,000, or $36.00 per year for those making between 20 and $39,000. There are also package rates for employees, spouses, and dependents under 18. All fees may be deducted from the employee's paycheck, if desired. For an additional $45.00 per year, a locker may be rented, including towels, showers, sauna, hair dryers, etc.

Additional information about other classes, facilities, and fitness services may be found at http://www.indiana.edu/~recsport

DON'T FORGET TO USE THE LIBRARY MASTER CALENDAR!

There is a master calendar in Libraries Human Resources where we list meetings, training sessions, and events that have been widely announced. If you are scheduling a meeting, event, etc., it is essential that you add this information to the calendar and check for conflicts. The master calendar is located in the Libraries Human Resources Office and on our web page at http://www.indiana.edu/~libpers/master2001.html. It is now also in the Public Folders of Outlook! You will only be able to view the calendar so if there is anything that you want to change or add to it, please send Suzann Westerfield (sleaster@indiana.edu or 5-5988) the information. It then will be put on the Outlook calendar for you. In order to view the calendar, scroll down your Outlook folder list to "Public Folders". Keep opening folders until you come to "All Public Folders", "Departments", "BL-Library", "BL-Master Calendar". Once you find it, you can make a shortcut by adding it to the Outlook bar on the left side, by clicking on it and dragging it over to that bar. Again, if you have any questions or would like to add something to the calendar, contact Susan Westerfield
