*Effective March 28 Lewis Johnson accepted the Conservation Assistant position with Preservation at IU Bloomington. Prior to accepting this position he was Public Services Assistant with the Lilly Library. He has an MLS from IU.
*Jon Dunn and Aaron Reichert of the Digital Library Program attended "Web-Wise: A Conference on Libraries and Museums in the Digital World" in Washington, DC on March 15-17. The conference was sponsored by the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the University of Missouri - Columbia. Jon Dunn gave a presentation on the Hoagy Carmichael Collection project, which was funded in part by IMLS.
*The following is a citation to a recent article by Tony Stamatopolos, IUPUI University Library: Stamatoplos, A. (2000). An integrated approach to teaching research in a first-year seminar. College Teaching 48(1): 33-35.
*Grant for East Asian Collection
The East Asian Collection has received an $18,000 grant from Toshiba International Foundation of Japan to strengthen its Japanese collection. The award is given for fiscal year 2000-2001 in support of the Collection's effort to expand its holdings of Post-War Japanese publications by contemporary authors in the various fields of Japanese culture.

*Annual Retirement And Recognition Reception
The annual retirement and recognition reception will be held on Thursday, May 25 from 3:30-5:00 p.m. in the third floor staff lounge of the Main Library at IU Bloomington. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend. So far this year we have four retirees and 19 "years of service" honorees. More announcements will be made as plans are finalized.
*Promotion and Tenure Workshop at IU South Bend
There will be a Promotion and Tenure Workshop on April 11 from 10:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Indiana University South Bend. The workshop will be held in Northside 038. Please contact Linda Fisher, Head of Government Publications at the Schurz Library at IU South Bend to register. You may call her at (219) 237-4442 or e-mail her at lfisher@iusb.edu. Refreshments will be served.
The first half hour of the workshop will be devoted to the mid-tenure review. Those who have already sailed through their mid-tenure review might prefer to join the workshop after that; there will be a break scheduled for that purpose.

availability.
