*Search and Screen Committee Appointment, IUB
The search and screen committee for Librarian for Latin American, Iberian, Latino, and Chicano-Riqueno Studies has been appointed. *News from the 94th Special Libraries Association
At the 94th Annual Conference of the Special Libraries Association held in New York, June 7-12, Steven Sowell was elected Chair-Elect of the Education Division. He will become Chair at the conclusion of next year's annual conference in Nashville and will be responsible for planning the division's programs at the Toronto annual conference in June 2005. At the New York conference, Steven completed his second two-year term as Secretary/Treasurer of the Education Division.

*Presentation by Carole Nowicke of the Indiana Prevention Resource Center Library
Carole Nowicke of the Indiana Prevention Resource Center Library gave a presentation at the International Trumpet Guild in Ft. Worth, TX, on May 23rd, entitled, "Sounds and Visions: Glass Plate Images from the Legacy of Cornet Soloist Walter F. Smith," providing information about Smith's career and recreating examples of multi-media entertainments Smith performed in the 1890's on the Sousa Band's off-season. The photographs and magic lantern slides used in the program are in the Archives and Regional History Collections of Western Michigan University.
On May 31st at the University of Pennsylvania, Nowicke and Abe Torchinsky, Philadelphia Orchestra (ret.) discussed and played recordings of the Philadelphia Brass Ensemble at the conference of the Association for Recorded Sound Collections, including a brass quintet recording supressed by Eugene Ormandy, and two Grammy winning albums by the brass ensemble. Torchinsky was one of Nowicke's oral history subjects for the ITEA Tuba-Euphonium Oral History Project, and another member of the brass quintet, Henry Charles Smith III was also an oral history subject and former member of the IU School of Music faculty.
On June 8th, Nowicke presented a lecture on former IU School of Music faculty member William J. Bell at the Southwest International Tuba-Euphonium Conference, at the University of Arizona, having given a similar lecture on Bell at Ball State University in March.
