*Staff Updates, IUB

Effective June 25, 2002, Polly Martin accepted the position of Library Conservation Technician, Preservation Department, Bloomington. Prior to accepting this position, Polly worked hourly in the Preservation Department. She has an M.L.S. from Indiana University.

*Support Staff Salary Increase

Effective July 1, 2002, Support Staff employees represented by CWA Local 4730 and Service Maintenance/Food Service employees represented by AFSCME Local 832 will receive a 2.5% increase, rounded to the nearest cent per hour.

Paychecks issued on July 19, 2002, will reflect the new salary rates.

*New Head of Acquisitions Division appointed at IUB

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Lynda Fuller Clendenning as Head, Acquisitions Division effective October 1, 2002. Since 1990, Lynda has worked at the University of Virginia Libraries, first as Head of the Serials Unit in the cataloging department at Alderman Library, then in 1995 as Director of the Acquisitions & Preservation Department. Lynda has also served as Acting Assistant Director of the Science and Engineering Libraries and as Interim Director of the Mary and David Harrison Institute for American History, Literature and Culture and the Albert H. Small Special Collections Library during her tenure at University of Virginia.

Lynda has a Master of Library & Information Science with an emphasis in manuscripts, archives and rare books, and a Master of Arts in History from the University of Maryland, College Park. Lynda was also a teaching assistant while in the English masters program at Ohio State University. Lynda has several publication credits and has assisted the University of Virginia Libraries in its SIRSI implementation. She has extensive managerial experience and collections work, and high-level participation in planning digital libraries.

I would like to thank the Search & Screen Committee for their fine work: Nancy Boerner (Chair), Sylvia Turchyn, Pat Hornick, Steven Sowell, Kay Martin, Lisa Lent and Ellen Bosman from the IU Northwest campus.
