*"U.S. Steel Gary Works Collection" added to RLG Cultural Materials

The "U.S. Steel Gary Works Photograph Collection: 1906-1941" is one of the latest collections to be added to RLG Cultural Materials, a licensed multi-media digital resource. This collection was created by the Digital Library Program working with Steve McShane at the Calumet Regional Archive at IU Northwest, which houses the photographs. To search and browse the collection, it is linked from the Cultural Materials home page: http://culturalmaterials.rlg.org/cmiprod/workspace.jsp. This is the second Indiana University collection to be included in RLG Cultural Materials. The Frank M. Hohenberger Collection from the Lilly Library was one of the first collections to be offered in this online resource. Although the collections are still accessible free of charge via the Web http://dlib.indiana.edu/collections/coll-image.htm, RLG offers an aggregated resource, with enhanced viewing (achieved through additional image processing). As of June 25, 2003 the service contains 197,188 works in 76 collections from 25 contributing institutions.
