Those long URLS!

*Program on Repositories and Open Access, IUPUI

The IUPUI University Library will be conducting a symposium on Friday September 12, 2003 on the topics of repositories and open access. There will be two speakers Deborah Helman from MIT, who will be discussing DSpace, and Peter Suber, a faculty member from Earlham College and a leading spokesperson for the open scholarship movement, who will discuss open access.

Both speakers have agreed to stay on campus and give their presentations a second time, so we are able to open this up to a wider audience.

Deborah Helman will be giving her presentation at 1:00 p.m. and Peter Suber will be giving his at 2:30 p.m. There are 50 places available. The talks will take place in the IUPUI University Library. There will be no cost except for parking which will be the responsibility of attendees. To reserve a spot, RSVP to Lee McLaughlin (lmclaugh@iupui.edu) or 317-274-9833).

For background on DSpace see their website at: http://www.dspace.org.

For background the open access movement see Peter Suber's BLOG at: http://www.earlham.edu/~peters/fos/fosblog.html or the SPARC website at:http://www.arl.org/sparc/home
