The Zimbabwe Book Fair is the largest gathering of African publishers, writers, librarians and booksellers in the world. Many of the materials available at the fair are difficult if not impossible to find in the United States. Librarians who attend the event are able to receive substantial discounts on materials purchased there. In addition to support from ALA, Marion received travel support from IUB's African Studies Program and the Office of International Programs. The IUB Libraries are supporting Marion's materials purchases while abroad with additional acquisition funds.

IUPUI UNIVERSITY LIBRARY STAFF MEMBER AWARDED

*Margaret Vollmer, of the IUPUI University Library Acquisitions Team, was the recent recipient of the Indiana Cooperative Library Service Authority (INCOLSA) 2000 Support Staff Award. The award was presented to Margaret by the INCOLSA Support Staff Committee in appreciation for her "outstanding dedicated services to the library support profession." The award presentation took place at the annual July conference of the INCOLSA Support Staff Committee at the University of Indianapolis, where over 175 staff members from Indiana libraries were in attendance.

THANK YOU

Because of the exemplary service they received while here for our Summer Session, Walden students have returned home singing the praises of the IUB Libraries. Many thanks to the librarians and staff who went out of their way to provide assistance or answer the many questions posed by students unfamiliar with our facilities and system. One's first encounter with a library of this magnitude can be overwhelming, but you certainly helped lessen the anxiety of those students who were unsure of themselves.
