LIBRARY NEWS

*News from the Digital Library Program (DLP)

On Thursday, August 23, the Digital Library Program launched its newly-redesigned web site. Initial work on the site design was completed by a team of SLIS students working on a project for Katy Boerner's Human Computer Interaction class, Stace Chow, Jiah Kim, Natalia Minibayeva, and Min Xiao. The students worked with Deborah Horn, Content Analysis and Interface Design Specialist for the Digital Library Program. Once the class project had been completed, the DLP Administrative Team began working with Horn and Jenn Riley, Digital Media Specialist, to refine the design. Jenn implemented the changes and maintains the web site. Please visit the new web site and give us your feedback: http://www.dlib.indiana.edu. There's a form linked from the home page to send us your comments. To coincide with the beginning of the fall semester, the DLP has extended access to the DIDO Image Bank http://www.dlib.indiana.edu/collections/dido to all campuses of Indiana University. Previously, this art image resource has only been accessible on the Bloomington campus. The image bank includes approximately 20,000 images from the Fine Arts Slide Collection, which serves the Department of the History of Art. Working leadership from Slide Librarian Eileen Fry, we will be appointing DIDO advisory group. Comprised of librarians and faculty, this group will meet throughout the coming academic year to advise on enhancements to DIDO and ways to provide improved service to users on all campuses. Currently, image selection for DIDO is determined by the teaching needs of the School of Fine Arts.
