*Mary Hrovat (Monographic Copy Cataloging Unit, IU Bloomington, wrote three articles in the September 1999 issue of _Research & Creative Activity (published by I.U.'s Office of Research and the University Graduate School). Her articles are as follows:

                "Making the Connection" (p.34)
"New Opportunities in New Media" (p.44)
"The Human Face of Information" (p.46)

These articles provide information about the Internet and the New Media Academy at the Kelley School of Business, the New Media Program at Indiana University--Purdue University Indianapolis, and the Center for Social Informatics and Rob Kling's work in social informatics.

*Carl Horne (Area Studies Section, IU Bloomington) was one of five people recently selected to attend a "Training the BIBCO Trainer Workshop" to be held October 13-15 at the Library of Congress. As a trainer, Carl will be conducting sessions aimed at teaching new BIBCO participants how to create bibliographic records which conform to the agreed upon standards developed by the Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC).

*Lois Sewell (Monographic Original Cataloging Unit, IU Bloomington) has been selected to serve on the BIBCO Working Group on Series Numbering. This very important working group is being asked to consider whether or not the PCC should rescind the requirement of creating an 830 field when the only difference in the series is in the form of numbering. Their final report is due to the PCC by October 15th.
