Visiting Research Associate
Urban Universities Portfolio Project
Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI)

IUPUI seeks a Visiting Research Associate to serve as a staff member for a major national project: "The Urban Universities Portfolio Project: Assuring Quality for Multiple Publics" (UUPP). The project brings together a national association and six universities around the country to develop a new medium, the electronic institutional portfolio, for documenting educational effectiveness at urban public universities. Now beginning its second year, the three-year project is headquartered at IUPUI and housed in the Office for Professional Development.

The Visiting Research Associate will have significant project and budget management responsibilities for the UUPP, working with the project director to ensure that the project's many lines of work move forward as scheduled and within budget. In collaboration with the director and project support staff, the Associate will coordinate project meetings and other activities, develop reports and other written materials, communicate with project participants nation-wide, and conduct research to identify relevant materials, models and other resources. The Associate will also carry out occasional projects for the Office for Professional Development.

The position requires the ability to write, communicate and analyze effectively, excellent organizational and budget skills, computer and research skills, and some familiarity with and interest in current issues facing public higher education. An advanced degree and some administrative experience are strongly preferred. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications.

Applications should include a cover letter explaining interest in and qualifications for the position, a resume or c.v., and two writing samples. Applications received by October 4, 1999 will receive first consideration. Please send applications to Susan Kahn at the Urban Universities Portfolio Project, IUPUI, 355 N. Lansing St., Suite 139, Indianapolis, IN 46202.

For additional information, please consult the UUPP web site at http://www.imir.iupui.edu/portfolio/, or contact Dr. Susan Kahn at (317) 278-3600 or skahn@iupui.edu
