CALENDAR
*Effective September 25, Marissa Priddis accepted the Branch Coordinator position in the SLIS Library at IU-Bloomington. Prior to accepting this position, Marissa worked in Customer and Access Services and the Education Library. She is presently pursuing a Masters degree in Library Science.
*Effective September 25, Joyce Owens resigned from her position as Document Delivery Assistant in Customer and Access Services in the Main Library to accept the Assistant to the Campus Library Head position in the Fine Arts Library at IU-Bloomington.
*Erika Dowell joined the staff of the Lilly Library August 1, 2000, as Visiting Assistant Librarian in the Public Services Department. Erika earned a B.A. in French in 1990 and a B.F.A. in Sculpture in 1992, both from Indiana University. She received her MLS degree from the IU School of Library & Information Science this past June. Erika has worked as slide curator for the Indiana State University Department of Art in Terre Haute and as assistant manager, then manager, of the Friends of Art Bookshop, located in IU's Henry Radford Hope School of Fine Arts. For the past five years, she served as Assistant to the Branch Head in the Fine Arts Library, hence she has just crossed the street to the Lilly.

The IU Libraries Personnel Directory for the Bloomington, Indianapolis, and Regional Campus Libraries, can be found on the web at: http://www.indiana.edu/~libadmin/directry.html. *SGML Workshop at IU Bloomington
IUL librarians and library staff are invited to a 2-day
SGML workshop on November 2-3, to be held in the Main Library
in Bloomington. This workshop, led by Perry Willett, is
offered as part of the CIC Wright American Fiction Project.
Participants will learn about SGML and the Text Encoding Initiative
(TEI) Guidelines, and their importance in digital library projects.
They will also get first-hand experience working on a CIC
electronic text project already underway. Participants will be
expected to devote 40 hours to the project within two months
after the workshop, as a way of reinforcing the concepts taught
in the workshop. The workshop will go from 9am-5pm on both
November 2 and 3. There is space for 23 workshop participants.

DON'T FORGET TO USE THE LIBRARY MASTER CALENDAR!
There is a master calendar in Libraries Human Resources where we list meetings, training sessions, and events that have been widely announced. If you are scheduling a meeting, event, etc., it is essential that you add this information to the calendar and check for conflicts. The master calendar is located in the Libraries Human Resources Office and on our web page at http://www.indiana.edu/~libpers/master2000.html. It is now also in the Public Folders of Outlook! You will only be able to view the calendar so if there is anything that you want to change or add to it, please send Suzann Westerfield (sleaster@indiana.edu or 5-5988) the information. It then will be put on the Outlook calendar for you. In order to view the calendar, scroll down your Outlook folder list to "Public Folders". Keep opening folders until you come to "All Public Folders", "Departments", "BL-Library", "BL-Master Calendar". Once you find it, you can make a shortcut by adding it to the Outlook bar on the left side, by clicking on it and dragging it over to that bar. Again, if you have any questions or would like to add something to the calendar, contact Suzann Westerfield.
