Effective October 14, Mecco Mai accepted the position of ALF Services Assistant, Customer and Access Services, Bloomington. Prior to accepting this position, Mecco worked in Customer and Access Services as an hourly employee.

*16th, Annual HPER Library Auction, IUBWonderful donations are pouring in for the 16th Annual HPER Library Auction on Friday, Oct. 25. A sampling includes:
1) An antique chest of drawers, 2) many plants, including calla lilies, Star Fall white clematis, and voodoo lilies, 3) a ride in a 2-passenger horse cart pulled by a North American Spotted Draft Horse, 4) homemade jams and jellies, 5) a gourmet meal for 6, 6) two certificates for massages from a certified massage therapist, 7) 2 tickets to Susan Osborn, mezzo-soprano, performance in IU Auditorium, 8) homemade bean soup, 9) a small piece of Samsonite luggage, and 10) a whitewater kayak!
All of the above and much more will be up for bid on the 25th, so hurry over to the HPER Building on the IUB campus, Room 125 to join in on the fun. All proceeds benefit the HPER Library, and donations are eligible for a federal tax deduction. Preview of items will be from 11:30am until noon; bidding starts at noon and will last until 1 or 1:15pm. A 3-dollar, sloppy joe lunch (sandwich, drink, and chips) will be served by members of the School of HPER Support Staff Council.

*Online Course and Module Development Grant Program
The Indiana Higher Education Telecommunication System (IHETS) in conjunction with the Indiana Partnership for Statewide Education (IPSE) has released the Request for Proposals for its Online Course and Module Development grant program. The goal of this program is to help faculty expand the range of educational offerings available to citizens of Indiana in an asynchronous, online format.
The total program allocation is $250,000, and individual awards will not exceed $15,000 for a single learning module or $20,000 for a credit-bearing course or group of related learning modules. In all cases, an institutional match of at least 50 percent of the grant request is required.
Grants will be awarded in an open competition among proposals submitted by individual (or teams of) faculty from any of the following Indiana institutions: Ball State University, Independent Colleges of Indiana (all members), Indiana State University, Indiana University, Ivy Tech State College, Purdue University, University of Southern Indiana, and Vincennes University.

*Impresssions of the Japanese Information Landscape
In May 2002 Kristine Brancolini traveled to Japan to give four workshops on RLG Cultural Materials and Indiana University's involvement with the creation of that resource. The October issue of RLG Focus includes a brief article by Kris and Ricky Erway from RLG, describing the purpose of the trip and what they learned from their experience.
