Effective October 5, Matthew Maylath accepted the position of Document Delivery Services Borrowing Supervisor in Customer and Access Services at IU-Bloomington. Prior to accepting this position, Matthew worked at Davis Library at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has a B.A. from Purdue University.
Effective October 5 Jacintha Nambi resigned from her position as Office Services Assistant in the Budget/Supply Office at IU-Bloomington.
*Peter Hook Joins Staff of Law Library, IUB
I am pleased to announce that Peter Hook joined the Law Library staff as the new Electronic Services Librarian, effective October 8, 2001. Prior to coming to IU, Peter was a reference librarian at the University of Illinois Law Library. He received his JD from the University of Kansas School of Law and his MLS from the University of Illinois Graduate School of Library and Information Science.

*Current Contents Connect Training
Don Sechler from the Institute for Scientific Information will be giving
two training sessions in the Main Library on November 13 for Current Contents
Connect. The morning session (10:00-11:30, E-172) will be a hands-on
training session where librarians and staff can be using CCC while he
instructs. Currently the IUB license is for three concurrent users, but
ISI will open that up on the 13th for training. The afternoon session
(1:00-2:30, E-174) will be more of a presentation and descriptive format.
Profiles and weekly current awareness alerts can be valuable tools for
your users. Other faculty and staff are welcome to sign up as well, so please
pass on this information to those that may have an interest. Sign up

Indiana University, School of Library and Information Science invites you
to our Annual Distinguished Alumni Lecture. Speaker is Dr. Gary Wiggins.
The lecture will be on Wednesday, 10/31/01 and starts at 1:30 ending at
3:30 p.m. It will be held at the SLIS Library located in the Main Library
building, room 011. The lecture is in titled, "gobElins and gMelin's:
European Influences on a American Chemistry Librarian". Refreshments
will be served.
