LIBRARY EVENTS
The Undergraduate Library Collection is now the Core Collection.
Over the past two years librarians from the Undergraduate Library, in consultation with subject and area librarians, reviewed every book in the Undergraduate Library Collection. Many books were transferred to the Research Collections or to Campus Libraries. What remains are in-demand current titles and high-use materials central to the IU Bloomington undergraduate curriculum: the Core Collection. The name of the collection, now located on the second floor of the west tower, will be officially changed to Core Collection when the new web catalog is implemented in January. Until that time, holdings will still be reflected as in the Undergraduate Library in IUCAT.
Books in the Core Collection will still circulate to all patrons for two weeks, be available for course reserve, and be subject to recall/hold. Because of the new focus, the Core Collection's other circulation policies were revised to make these high-use, in-demand materials more readily available to all students. The changes are effective October 15, 2000. These policies are:
-Books may be renewed twice (for a total of 6 weeks)
-Books from the Core Collection will not be circulated through interlibrary
loan
-Books from the Core Collection cannot be charged to library carrels
-All borrowers, including faculty will be charged for late return of
materials
Inquiries about the Core Collection may be sent to libugls@indiana.edu

*HPER Library Auction at IU Bloomington
It's back by popular demand! The 14th Annual HPER Library Auction will take place on Friday, October 27, from 11:30am-1pm in the HPER Building, Room 125 (HPER faculty lounge). This is a major fundraising event for the HPER Library, and a collaborative effort between the School of HPER and the IU Libraries. The purpose of this message is to ask for your donations to the Auction. In previous years, such items as baked goodies and gourmet meals, sporting equipment, autographed books, an afternoon of kayaking, 4 hours of dog training, and a massage have been auctioned off. If you have Grandma's "treasures" in your attic and want to give them to a good cause, think about putting them in the Auction. This year we are going to have a special table with $10.00 items, for folks on a limited budget.
To make a donation, please fill out the form below, and return it to: Mary Strow, HPER Library 029, HPER Building, IUB. Be sure to request a tax reporting form, if you wish one. We hope to make this year's Auction bigger and more fun than ever before! Mark your calendars now, and we hope that you will participate!
