Effective October 15, Francis Lapka accepted the position of ALF Catalog Specialist, Lilly Library, Bloomington. Prior to accepting this position, Francis worked in the Lilly Library as Public Services Assistant.
Effective October 27, Janet Seymour accepted the position of Accounting Associate, Technical Services/Acquisitions, Bloomington. Prior to accepting this position, Janet worked as Accounting Services Supervisor in the Budget/Supply Office.
Effective November 3, Michael Courtney accepted the position of Reference Associate, HPER Library and Life Sciences Library, Bloomington. Prior to accepting this position, Michael worked as ALF Project Cataloging Support Specialist in Technical Services/Cataloging Division.

*Director of Library Services, IUN
Indiana University Northwest (IUN) invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of Library Services. The successful candidate will have a combination of personal strengths that should include the vision and creativity to lead the Library in supporting the campus mission in a dynamic environment, a strong customer service orientation and an interest in technology. The Library contains approximately 240,000 volumes, 350,000 government publications and provides access to over 600 electronic journals, databases and catalogs. Special purpose areas include the Calumet Regional Archives, the Northwest Indiana Center for Data and Analysis, and the Lake County Central Law Library. Minimum Qualifications
- An MLS degree from an ALA accredited program.
- 5 years progressively responsible administrative experience in an academic library including budgeting and personnel management.
- A record of scholarly and professional achievement appropriate for tenure as a faculty member at IUN.
- Additional experience as a librarian with non-administrative activities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to collaborative decision-making.
- Evidence of effective written and oral communication skills.
- A demonstrated orientation to customer service and community involvement.
- Demonstrated experience with information technology, advocacy for technology in the Library and in the Institution, and collaboration with information technology initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to administer within a multi-campus environment.
- A proven record of initiative and achievement in developing programs and services.
- Ability to work collaboratively with campus officials in external fund raising.
This is a 12-month faculty appointment reporting to the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs. Salary is competitive and includes generous fringe benefits. *17th Annual HPER Library Auction, IUB
The 17th Annual HPER Library Auction is just around the corner, on Friday, October 24, from 12 Noon to 1pm in the HPER Building, Room 125. We are still accepting donations of items to be auctioned, so please fill out the form below and send it in as soon as possible, if you plan on making a donation. Donations are tax-deductible on your federal return.
So far we have many wonderful items that have been donated, including: framed art works, luggage, perennials, antique furniture (from Martha Brogan), IU Press books, children's toys, tickets to the IU Auditorium, and a Chinese dinner for 6! But we can use even more! Check your closets, garage, and/or attic to see if you have a wonderful piece of "junque" to donate.
The HPER Support Staff Council will also be serving their traditional Sloppy Joe lunch just prior to the auction in the same room, so feel free to come early and have lunch and then stick around for the bidding. Please join the fun and help make this a wonderful event!
