The IUPUI University Library will present a display of book art binding by students of a Herron School of Art class, November 5 - 29, 2001, in the Level One Lobby display area during regular Library hours. The book binding display will include the creative works of students Philip Austin, Anthony Cain, Angela Fritz, Mandy Falco, Martha Hartwell, Kelly Holden, Jennifer Knapek, Autumn Mitchell, Rebecca Padget, Greg Prosser, Erin Reeser, and Shanay Sotomayor.

These Herron students, with instruction by professors Karen Baldner and Paul Brown, have participated in the introductory year of principles for binding books and extending the book into expressive formats. Traditional and non-traditional book binding formats were used, involving cutting, folding and sewing techniques including Japanese stab binding, french doors, concertina and piano hinge."

Autumn harvest activities and celebrations will be the focus of the Native American Heritage programs during the month of November at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art. In support of this program, the IUPUI University Library will also host a display of Native artifacts and museum program materials for the month of November.

From November 3 - 17, a range of traditional native cultural elements will be featured at the Eiteljorg Museum, located within walking distance of IUPUI, adjacent to the White River State Park.
