Effective November 2, Daniel Comiskey accepted the Bloomington Delivery Service Coordinator position in Customer and Facilities Services. Daniel has worked hourly in the Document Delivery area of Customer and Facilities Services since 1997.

Effective October 30 David Sutton transferred from Libraries Information Technology (but he was actually based at the University Library in Indianapolis) to the Digital Libraries Team with the University Library at Indianapolis.

Hoyt, IUPUI University Library, gave a presentation on "Education of Instructors in the Seminars and Normal College of the American Turners," at the John Saw Billings History of Medicine Society, Inc., on October 12, 1998, at the Athenaeum, Indianapolis. The Normal College of the North American Gymnastics Union was the forerunner of the IUPUI School of Physical Education. Early courses always included instruction by Medical Doctors, and students frequently were instructed on cadavers through association with Medical Schools. The Ruth Lilly Special Collections and Archives at the IUPUI University Library is the national repository of the American Turner records.

Ellen Bosman, Assistant Librarian and Head of Technical Services at IUN, recently presented "Creating the User Friendly Library with Signs" to the Lutheran Church Library Association in Newton, Iowa. Similarly, Bosman addressed the Association of Christian Librarians in June at Taylor University, Upland, IN. The presentation can be viewed on the internet at: http://www.lib.iun.indiana.edu/libsign1.htm

5. Ergonomics Survey

Has your office chair been adjusted properly for your work area? Does the lighting enhance your work area or detract from it? Or is your work area adjusted properly for you? The Library Ergonomics Team wants to know if your work area "works" for you. The Team will be surveying all employess through their supervisors throughout the month of November to find out. This survey will address such issues as lighting, chairs, desks, air quality, and noise and will include all employees in the Main Library and Campus Libraries. We want to find out about problem areas and about areas where there are no problems so everyone will be asked. If you are more comfortable speaking directly with an Ergonomics Team member, you may contact them directly. They are:
