*Staff Updates, IUB
It is with regret that I announce that Linda Cantara, Metadata Librarian, has accepted a position as Metadata Librarian at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. In the short time she has been at Indiana University, Linda has made significant contributions to many projects including the Charles W. Cushman Photograph Collection, the EVIA (Ethnomusicological Video for Instruction and Analysis) Digital Archive, and the Open Archives Initiative (OAI) Sheet Music Project. Linda chaired the Indiana University Encoded Archival Description (EAD) Finding Aids Working Group, and served on both the Organizing Task Force and the Integrated Access Task Force. To increase knowledge of metadata and its applications to electronic resources, Linda has given presentations to the catalog managers in Technical Services Main Library, the Digital Library Program (DLP), the Academic Librarians of Indiana (ALI), the DLP/SLIS Brown Bag Lunch Series, and to SLIS cataloging and digital library classes. She has provided consultation on metadata issues to colleagues across the IUB campus including the Lilly Library, University Archives, the Fine Arts Slide Library, the Archives of Traditional Music (ATM), the Latin American Music Center (LAMC), the Digital Library of the Commons (DLC), and the Law Library.
Linda will leave IU in mid-December and will assume her new position in early January. Please join me in thanking Linda for her contributions to IUB Libraries and congratulating her on her new appointment.
