Effective December 31, 1996, Mary Ann Danner-Fadae resigned her position as Middle Eastern Studies Area Specialist in the Main Library at Bloomington.
2. MASTER CALENDAR IN PERSONNEL
There is a master calendar in Library Personnel where we list most meetings and training sessions that have been widely announced. Lynne Webb (lywebb) maintains this calendar, and you can let her know if you want something listed. If you're scheduling a meeting and want to avoid conflicts, consulting the master calendar may help.

3. FEBRUARY FEST: A TASTE-FULL CELEBRATION OF DIVERSITY
Only two weeks until the IUB Libraries' Special Events Committee sponsors the Fifth Annual FEBRUARY FEST! Don't forget to sign up to bring a special dish. This event gives us all a chance to recognize and celebrate cultural and ethnic backgrounds of library employees, by sharing desserts and snacks from different countries, ethnic groups, and regions of the U.S.
Please help to make this event a success by contributing some special food item. Send Rachael Stoeltje an email message (RSTOELTJ) or sign up on the sheets that are going around your department. Include your name and the name and origin of your food donation. Please provide this information before February 3rd.
February Fest will be held on February 6th at 3:30 PM in the Main Library's Staff Lounge. We also encourage you to wear ethnic of traditional clothing to this event. If you have any question, please feel free to contact Rachael Stoeltje (5-6282) or Julie Pophal (5-4626), co-chairs of this event.

You are cordially invited to attend the 1997 Summer Research Laboratory on Russia and Eastern Europe at UIUC. This program provides an opportunity for scholars and dissertation-stage students to benefit from the resources of the University of Illinois Library, seek advice from the staff of the Slavic and East European Library, and to meet colleagues to discuss current research. Associateships will be available for any period of time between June 16 and August 8, 1997.
5. SUMMARY OF LIBRARY GRANT OPPORTUNITIES
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has issued a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) for basic and applied research in a number of areas, including: 1. telecommunications management; 2. computer science; 3. library services; and 4. records management.
