1. FACULTY/STAFF NEWS

Marian Shaaban, Government Publications Department, attended the Workshop for European Union Depository Librarians, May 29, and the European Community Studies Association meeting, May 30 - June 1, 1997, in Seattle, Washington. Meetings for the depository librarians focused on new trends and technologies for the distribution of EU information and publications. Discussions also covered EU web sites.

Sherrill Weaver has accepted an appointment as Wheaton Campus Coordinator and Public Services Librarian at National-Louis University and will be leaving her position at the IU Libraries at the end of the week. The NLU position will offer Sherrill the opportunity to pursue her career interest in the management and provision of instructional support to adults pursuing higher education degrees, and to work in an area with a direct relationship with the subject area of her doctoral dissertation.

In her work as the IUL-B Technology Training Coordinator Sherrill has not only defined the position but has established a level of excellence which will be difficult to replace. We all thank Sherrill for her fine work and wish her well in her new position. She is a valued colleague and will be missed.

Effective June 23, Amy Cope accepted the Branch Coordinator position in the SLIS Library. Amy's new phone number is 855-5968. She has worked in UGLS since October of 1994.

2. MASTER CALENDAR

There is a master calendar in Library Personnel where we list most meetings and training sessions that have been widely announced. Suzann Easter (sleaster) maintains this calendar, and you can let her know if you want something listed. If you're scheduling a meeting and want to avoid conflicts, consulting the master calendar may help.
