The IU Libraries have established a consulting service to faculty on developing assignments using the World Wide Web. This was in response to a need expressed at the JulY 16 WWW miniconference "Critical Thinking and the World Wide Web." The Reference Department at the Main Library will act as a clearinghouse to find the appropriate group of librarians to work with faculty on their projects. Faculty will find that phone number and e-mail address on the conference web site.

Medline, CINAHL, and the full text of forty-five electronic journals are available to all Indiana University campuses through the Indiana University School of Medicine Ruth Lilly Medical Library (RLML) server. Ovid is the software vendor for these databases. The maintenance of the server and updates to the databases are managed by Julie Fore, RLML librarian. The IULOvid listserv is used to notify RLML Ovid users of databases updates, projected downtimes, and new Ovid capabilities.
To be kept informed of significant changes in Ovid software and databases, subscribe to the Iulovid listserv. Send an e-mail message to listserv@listserv.iupui.edu. Leave the subject line blank and do not include your signature. The message is "Subscribe IULOVID Your name". ( Do not use quotes.)

4. ELECTRONIC NURSING JOURNALS LINKED FROM CITATION DATABASES
The fulltext and graphics of a collection of electronic nursing journals are now available through the Ruth Lilly Medical Library Ovid server. As a subject search is completed on either MEDLINE or CINAHL, the citations to articles in these journals can link directly to the journal article. The titles of journals in the collection are listed at the end of this message. The collection begins in 1995 and continues to the present with updates monthly.
Citations from MEDLINE searches link to the nursing journals and other fulltext journals that are medically oriented. CINAHL links to the fulltext of the available nursing journals plus the fulltext of other types of publications that are indexed in CINAHL.
MEDLINE, CINAHL, and the journals are available through the WWW at http://www.medlib.iupui.edu/medweb. Enter your User ID in the box. Your User ID is either: your Indiana University Library Card Number, or your Indiana University ID Number (most likely your SSN)
The IUPUI University Library is funding the fulltext nursing journals and the Ruth Lilly Medical Library funds and manages the Ovid MEDLINE, CINAHL and fulltext medical databases. The libraries of all the IU campuses have contributed funds for ongoing operational costs.
Other databases on the server that are licensed for all of the university are Bioethicsline, HealthStar, and CancerLit.
Two demonstration sessions are scheduled for librarians that are interested. The August 21 session is at 11:00 in Room 301 at Ruth Lilly Medical Library on the IUPUI campus, and the August 29 session is at 1:30 also in Room 301. Call RLML Reference Desk at 317-274-7185 to schedule any other sessions.
