4. CAREER REFERENCE COLLECTION
As students prepare to enter one of the strongest job markets in years, new resources at IU's Main Library are helping them find jobs and prepare for careers. The Indiana University Parents Fund, an 11-year-old program that supports projects on the IU Bloomington (IUB) campus, has granted $30,000 to expand and further develop the Career Reference Collection.
The Career Reference Collection (CRC) offers books and computer resources to assist students as they plan for the future. The collection contains more than 2,000 books providing information on such topics as career selection, strategies for successful interviews, statistics about occupational outlooks in the U.S. and internationally, as well as guides relating to college and graduate school selection and application.
The expanded CRC is working in collaboration with the Career Development Center (CDC) on the Bloomington campus, a unit of the Campus Life Division. Together the two groups offer workshops in career development.
"The CDC provides the expert guidance, and we provide the cutting-edge information, " says Mary Strow, who heads reference services for undergraduates at the Main Library.

6. INSTRUCTIONAL MEDIA DEVELOPMENT GRANTS
Media Production, a division of Instructional Support Services and under the aegis of the Office of Dean of Faculties, is pleased to announce a competition for 1998-99 offering Instructional Media Grants. These grants are designed to support undergraduate and graduate instruction on the Bloomington campus. Though no salary is provided through this program, Media Production will provide all labor and materials - except in the case of extraordinary travel or materials costs.
Video or audio programs produced through these grants must be used in the classroom to improve or to enhance applicants' courses. Specifically, we are looking for projects that fill a particular instructional need, projects that solve a pedagogical problem or problems for a faculty member, a department, or a school. A minimum of four projects will be supported during the 1998/99 academic year.
Proposal forms and guidelines for proposals are available through Media Production. Contact Ralph Zuzolo, Director, Media Production at Franklin Hall M108, 812-855-1983; rzuzolo@indiana.edu.
