Glenn Read, Librarian for Latin American Studies, has announced his retirement effective June 30, 1998. Glenn joined the University Libraries in 1976 after positions with the University of California-Berkeley, New York Public Library, and Cornell University. Closing his career with a flourish, Glenn has recently contributed the final chapter, "Researching Latin America in the Library: the Electronic Age," to Latin America: Perspectives on a Region (Holmes & Meier, 1998). He will be remembered as a Life Member of ALA, an active participant in SALALM (Seminar on the Acquisition of Latin American Library Materials), where he most recently served on its Committee on National Level Cooperation, and a member of the Latin American Studies Association. For more than two decades, Glenn has guided the growth and preservation of IU's Latin American collections, serving also as the steward of the DeVault Latin American Endowment Fund.
