1. STAFF NEWS

Perry Willett received a $600 grant from the Overseas Conference Fund to attend the Association for Computers and Humanities International Conference in Debrecen, Hungary, July 5-10, 1998. He delivered a paper as part of a panel entitled "Foregrounding the Woman: Digital Projects and their Implications." His paper dealt with technical issues related to cooperation among electronic text projects.

Effective July 24, 1998, Catherine Johnson accepted the Reference/Technical Associate position in the Lilly Library. Catherine previously worked in the Fine Arts Library.

Sue McFadden and Lora Baldwin presented poster sessions at the American Library Association's National Conference in Washington, DC, June 1998. Sue presented: "Reaching Beyond the Boundaries: BI Outside the Library Walls" and Lora presented: "Changing Paradigms: Revising the Acquisitions Budget for a Small Academic Library."

3. INCOLSA AWARD PRESENTED TO GLENDA ARMSTRONG

Please join the Acquisitions Team at IUPUI University Library in congratulating Glenda Armstrong who received the "Outstanding Service to the Library Profession Award" yesterday. The award was granted by the INCOLSA Support Staff Committee at a conference attended by over 250 participants (including thirteen from the IUPUI University Library and Herron School of Art Library).

Glenda has been involved with support staff organizations for many years. Her commitment to quality library service was recognized by the Indiana Library Federation when they granted Glenda the 1982 Outstanding Library Assistant Award.

Glenda joined the IUPUI University Library in January of 1968 but moved away from Indianapolis for three years. She returned to the IUPUI University Library in September 1975. Her outstanding service to this organization is recognized by all of us who have the privilege of working with her.
