2. ART EXHIBIT AT IUPUI UNIVERSITY LIBRARY
See the impact of the war in the Balkans through the eyes of children who are victims of the conflict through an art exhibit that is currently on display at the IUPUI University Library in the first-level lobby. The exhibit is sponsored by the School of Journalism at IUPUI, in cooperation with University Libraries. It includes artwork drawn over a four-year period as part of an art-therapy program led by Croatian psychologist Arpad Barath. The drawings range from gory scenes of death to graceful images of doves, a universal symbol of hope.
The exhibit is an expressive collection of drawings, painting, and prose created by children 6 to 14 years old, all eye-witnesses to the bloodshed in the Balkans. These works are a small sample of the creative production of nearly 50,000 Croatian, Muslim and Serbian children reached by a nationwide project, "Psychological an Educational Help for Children Affected by War."
The exhibit may be viewed during regular library hours and can be seen until February 2, 1996.
