1. FACULTY/STAFF NEWS

Gary Wiggins made several presentations in April and May on the topic of "Chemistry Resources on the Internet." He first spoke at the Owens-Corning Company in Granville, Ohio, then addressed the American Chemical Society Columbus Section meeting at Denison University. He was invited to make presentations at Air Products and Chemicals in Allentown, Pennsylvania and while there spoke to the ACS Lehigh Valley Section meeting. His last presentation on the topic was at the Central Regional Meeting of the ACS in Akron, Ohio. Each presentation featured live Internet connections to "Chemical Information Sources from Indiana University," (http://www.indiana.edu/~cheminfo) and to the "Internet Directory of Biotechnology Resources," (http://biotech.chem.indiana.edu), both of which are being developed by Dr. Wiggins.

Effective May 30, Meredith Dooley accepted the position of Catalog Revisor in IOCM.

Marilyn Shaver has been elected secretary of the Personnel Administrators Section of ALA's Library Administration and Management Association (LAMA) for 1996-1998.

3. ANNOUNCING THE 1995 I.U LIBRARIES PICNIC & PITCH-IN

DATE: Thursday, July 13, 1995

TIME:11:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Food available 11:30-1:30)

WHERE: Bryan Park, East Shelter House (Next to the Pool)

FARE: We will provide FRIED CHICKEN, POTATO SALAD, COLD DRINKS, but would LOVE to have other CONTRIBUTIONS (especially side dishes and deserts.)

ACTIVITIES: Recreational Equipment will be provided, but feel free to bring your own board games, lawn games, cards, blankets and chairs.

SWIMMING: If enough people sign up, we can receive a special admission rate for the Bryan Park Pool ($1.50 for adults and $1.00 for kids under 18). Please indicate on the form below if you and your family would like to use the pool.
