1. THANKS!!!

Thanks to Julie Nilson and MPS staff from Pat Steele, Acting Dean, for the quarterly series of MPS status reports. They represent a strong effort to provide a view of issues, activities, and changes. It is important that MPS customers use these reports as the basis for dialogue with the department. We hope that such exchange will occur on a regular and organized basis as it serves both groups well.

4. UNIVERSITY PRESS APPROVAL PLAN REPORT

The vendor for our University Press Approval Plan, Midwest Library Services, reported to Monographic Processing Services staff about the order and delivery activities for the past fiscal year, July 1994 through June, 1995.

Books which were automatically shipped, according to our profile, totaled 4799. Of that quantity 2 percent, or 106 items, were returned. The vendor also supplied bibliographic forms for 2259 items. Orders were placed and delivered for 1163 of those forms, or 51 per cent. Of the orders based on bibliographic forms less than 1 per cent, 2 items, were returned.

The profile established by fund managers continues to operate smoothly. If anyone is interested in seeing the detailed reports, which are printed by Library of Congress classification numbers, they are available in the MPS department from David Smith or Barbara Henn.

5. WALK FOR THE ANIMALS! JOIN THE LIBRARIES TEAM!

The Monroe County Humane Association is sponsoring a "Walk for the Animals" to raise funds to support its efforts to help our furred and feathered friends in the county. The I.U. Libraries will be entering a team, and we need some walkers to volunteer.

The walk will be on Sunday, Oct. 1st, 2-4:30 pm, and it will begin in Third Street Park. The walk will be approximately 3 miles.

Walkers on the team will NOT be asked to solicit donations--there will be another team for that.

Please contact Jackie Byrd, IOCM (email: byrd) if you would like to volunteer for the team. We also need a name for the team, so if you have any ideas for that, email Jackie!
