The books will have a memorial bookplate attached. Memorial gifts can be sent to Cameron McGuire, Main Library C-2. Thanks again to all those making this tribute to Lina possible.

5. LIBRARY FACULTY HANDBOOK CHANGES

The IUL Faculty, by a vote of 61-1, approved the following change to the Library Faculty Handbook, p.26. It will be changed to read:

>From Associate Librarian to Librarian

Superior performance is the primary criterion. This promotion is based upon achievement beyond the level required for the rank of associate librarian.

-------------------------------------------------------

The IUL Faculty, by a vote of 52-2, approved the following changes to the Library Faculty Handbook:

For insertion on p. 18, Section B., of the Library Faculty Handbook after "2. Service," the following sentence:

"The balanced case (see UFC Circular U13-94) will not compromise current criteria for performance and may be applied only to professional development and service."

For insertion on p.24, Library Faculty Handbook, under "Performance":

"The balanced case (see UFC Circular U13-94) will not compromise current criteria for performance and may be applied only to professional development and service."

-------------------------------------------------------

The IUL Faculty, by a vote of 63-1, approved the following changes to the Library Faculty Handbook, p.44a. It will be changed to read:

MID-TENURE REVIEW FOR LIBRARIANS

In October, during Promotion and Tenure Week, the Promotion and Tenure Committee will review the progress toward tenure of librarians who have three years toward tenure as of the end of the previous academic year, i.e. June 30. In the case of Assistant Librarians, the committee will also review progress toward promotion to Associate rank. The committee will consult all previous annual reviews for each librarian, as well as a list of professional development and service activities for the period of January through August of the review year. The purpose of this review is to provide guidance to librarians as they progress toward tenure and promotion; therefore the review is optional rather than mandatory.

The librarian's file of annual reviews or annual reports, located in Library Personnel, will be made available to the committee. The librarian's permission is required for this step.

The personnel officer will send the librarian a form on which to list the professional development and service activities for the current year. The form will include an opportunity to declare the librarian's secondary area of emphasis. Each librarian being reviewed should submit a vita and position description(s) and may submit a brief summary of pre-IU professional activities.
